Optic Neuritis

What is it?
Optic neuritis is inflammation of the optic nerve, usually causing pain with eye movement and reduced vision in one eye. It may be associated with multiple sclerosis or other conditions.

Treatment overview
Intravenous methylprednisolone may speed visual recovery but does not improve long-term outcomes. Investigation for multiple sclerosis and other causes is important.
